Part-Time, Temporary or Commissioned Pastor Opening

First Presbyterian Church of Quincy is looking for a part-time temporary or commissioned pastor willing to work with us to grow in our faith as disciples of Jesus Christ and together share the love of Jesus in our community. We are looking for a partner and coach who is comfortable in the Reformed Tradition, willing to care for the flock, and ready to spur us on to love and good deeds.

Church and Community Description

Quincy is a rural community in central Washington State. It historically has been a farming community with all the charm and related businesses that support that industry. Over the past 10+ years Quincy has grown into a community not only supported by farming but by technology and tourism.

 Farming

The rich farm land of the Quincy Valley was enhanced by the irrigation made possible by the Grand Coulee Dam and the Columbia Irrigation Project. Major crops include potatoes, wheat, alfalfa, apples and wine grapes.

 Technology

Tech companies such as Microsoft, Yahoo, Dell and Intuit have been building large data centers in Quincy since 2007. Microsoft’s Columbia Data Center is said to be the largest data center in the world. These companies have been attracted to the Quincy area due to abundant and inexpensive hydroelectricity, affordable land and fiber optic technology.

 Tourism

The semi-arid climate creates 320 days of sunshine in a year. Outdoor recreational activity from fishing and hunting, boating and water sport on nearby lakes and the Columbia River have long been a draw for people to enjoy a vacation in the Quincy area. The Gorge Amphitheatre is a world class outdoor concert venue just 10 miles from the city of Quincy and draws thousands of people each concert season.

Our church is a small but faithful congregation. The majority of our congregation are in their 70s and 80s (and some in their 90s in local care facilities). We are a thoughtful, evangelical church which appreciates biblically based preaching and teaching. Mission and outreach has always been important to us and continues to be but in a way that fits our current abilities (both physically as well as spiritually).
