REV. DEAN STRONG, STATED CLERK

The Rev. Dean Strong is the Stated Clerk for the Presbytery of the Northwest Coast and the Synod of Alaska-Northwest, specializing in ecclesiology, polity, conflict resolution, parliamentary procedure and intergroup relations.  He has served as a chaplain at a regional medical trauma center, head of staff in a mid-sized church, an associate for adult education and spiritual development in a large urban church and organizing pastor of a suburban new church development.

Dean also is a certified coach and organizational consultant with education and training in finance, human behavior, organizational theory and ethics.  He brings 30 years of experience helping individuals, teams and organizations successfully discern, negotiate and implement desired changes in behaviors and ethos.

His business experience includes management positions with Haggen Foods, The Boeing Company, and Joseph C. Cannizaro Interests, a leading commercial real estate developer in the Southeast.  He is a co-founder of Property One, a regional commercial real estate management, leasing and sales company in the Southeast U.S.  In more recent years, Dean specialized as a career coach & counselor before founding his own consulting practice.

Dean was educated at Whitman College, Seattle University, and Columbia Presbyterian Theological Seminary and he is an an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) of the International Coaching Federation.  He has pursued extensive post graduate work in marriage and family counseling, conflict mediation, organizational systems, leadership training, ethics and executive coaching.  He is a Certified & Licensed CPP Administrator of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, FIRO-B Org Behavior Instrument, and other leadership assessments.

During the spring and summer, Dean serves as a baseball umpire for the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association and the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges.  Having grown up in the Puget Sound region, Dean spends as much time as possible outdoors with his wife Linda, a physician in Edmonds, sailing, skiing, avoiding the treadmill by playing tennis, and visiting their two sons, Chapman and Connor.
